Our Mission
We understand that the contributions of public sector workers are invaluable to society, we need teachers, police, paramedics, policy makers, HR professionals and more of Black and Mixed heritage in these roles to achieve equity in public sector outcomes
Our Mission
At UK Black in Government CIC, our mission is to inform, support, and develop individuals identifying as Black or Mixed heritage to pursue meaningful careers in the civil service and wider public sector.
We believe that achieving equity in public sector outcomes begins with representation at decision-making tables.
We are committed to:
Inform: Highlight the wealth of opportunities and impactful careers available in public service for Black and Mixed heritage people through positive role modelling and information sharing.
Support: Provide access to curated events, workshops, and digital resources for learning, development, and networking. More widely we want to work with education providers to reach and motivate young people to explore career’s in the public sector.
Inspire: Partner with public sector leaders and relevant external stakeholders to motivate the next generation of Black and Mixed heritage professionals to contribute to a society that is equitable, diverse, and inclusive through pursuing careers in the public sector.
Together, we aim to build a public sector that truly reflects the richness of our community.
“The fact that we had an event for black people highlighting our achievements and acknowledging our contributions in Government. It was an event where we could be ourselves. Thanks for organising such an event. I will be attending each one!”
